Chapter 410: End Game (2)

Level 9 prisoners were coming up.

The restraints of BDISSEM, the only means to control the Level 9 inmates, lost their power and allowed these dangerous individuals to ascend to the upper levels of Nouvellebag.

Each of these inmates had been sentenced to life imprisonment over a thousand times on the surface and were incarcerated here as a result. These monsters are a significant threat to the empire’s security by their very existence. Not only do they possess immense physical power, but they also have diabolical intellects.

When the Level 9 prisoners joined the rebellion, the tide of battle turned instantly.

“They’re too strong!”

“Even the other prisoners are affected!”

“Damn it! Those scum are forming ranks!?”

“Hold your ground! If we falter even once, it’s over!”

“Focus on killing the summoners and dark mages!”

The guards fought desperately, but holding their ground was becoming impossible. Despite their strength, many Level 9 inmates were also skilled in mercenary tactics and military strategy, causing the guards’ encirclement to crumble in real-time.

Head Captain Bastille shouted, “Where is Sir Orca?!”

“He hasn’t returned yet!”

Head Captain Bastille bit his lip until it bled at his subordinate’s report. The only hope at this moment lay with the two pillars of Nouvellebag, Major D’Ordume and Major Souare.

With a fierce battle cry, D’Ordume cleaved through a prisoner in front of him with his axe, advancing relentlessly across the battlefield. “Don’t be intimidated! They’re nothing but weakened, frail husks now!”

But D’Ordume’s words were abruptly cut off.

Thud!

The axe, which had been shredding and smashing everything in its path, suddenly stopped. A prisoner was holding the heated blade with her bare hands. Seeing her face, D’Ordume groaned quietly.

“…Megiddo. You bitch.”

The red-haired female prisoner grinned wickedly, as if she had a score to settle with D’Ordume.

Boom! Crack!

D’Ordume’s face snapped to the side, blood spraying as he was punched. “Damn it. Troublesome wenches have escaped. What the fuck happened to BDISSEM…?”

D’Ordume stepped back a few paces, spitting out blood and broken teeth, growling. Watching from the side, Souaré clicked her tongue.

“Getting beaten up by prisoners. Pathetic.”

But even Souaré couldn’t afford to simply mock D’Ordume. A young girl with skin as white as snow scratched her cheek savagely with her nails.

Behind her, seven large wolf shadows flickered.

“Oh my—if it isn’t SnowWhite. I knew you’d be the first to break out. Of course, I also knew you’d come looking for me first.”

Souaré lifted her blood-stained face and smiled lazily. The thick cigar in her mouth burned down rapidly, exhaling dense smoke. Around the two majors, Level 9 prisoners began to gather one by one. These were villains who had once terrorized the surface world with their dreadful reputations. In the era of warring states, each of them could have single-handedly destroyed a small nation.

As they looked upon these fearsome figures, D’Ordume and Souaré’s expressions grew increasingly grim. Standing back-to-back in the middle of the encirclement, they began to speak.

“…Looks like this is where I’ll die.”

“Not the worst place. The weather’s nice. It’d be perfect if we could leave behind some decent-looking corpses. I even shaved today.”

“Still, I’ll die after you. I must see that annoying face of yours smashed first.”

“Haha, no sense of romance, huh? After nearly 30 years of brawling since our days as junior guards, that’s your final line?”

“What, were you expecting a confession?”

“Maybe a little?”

“…?”

“Haha, just kidding~”

Finished with their banter, D’Ordume and Souaré summoned all their strength.

Crack! Crack! Crack!

D’Ordume’s entire body became covered in dark, iron-like scales. Sharp teeth, like blades, protruded from his elongated snout. His already large frame expanded several times, revealing the true form of a ferocious sea crocodile beastman.

Souaré, too, unleashed the full extent of the dwarf and elf blood coursing through her veins. Her ears became pointed, and her senses sharpened. Simultaneously, her body temperature soared to the point where she could melt and mold metal with ease.

The demons of Level 9 also began to rampage like fish in water.

“Oh, D’Ordume! I’ve been counting the days until I could kill you!”

“Souaré! I’ll cut off the leg you used to trample me!”

“Orca! Bring me Orca, you lackeys!”

The guards, knowing that D’Ordume and Souaré were key to winning the battle, desperately defended them.

“Support the Majors!”

Head Captain Bastille arrived with high-ranking guards. He wielded a massive two-handed sword, driving the Level 9 prisoners into a corner.

“Well done, Bastille! Just buy us a little more time!” D’Ordume shouted, having just beheaded a Level 9 prisoner. Covered in the blood of the inmates, he looked like a colossal demon.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

As D’Ordume swung his tail, the surrounding stalactites shattered into pieces. The heavy rocks pelted the prisoners, hitting them hard.

“O-ooooooo!”

D’Ordume extended the axe blades on his forearms to their limits. The pitch-black sea crocodile, armed with axes, bristled his thick, sharp scales. He transformed into a figure resembling an evil god descended to earth for slaughter.

“Die, you fuckin scum!”

With a thunderous roar, D’Ordume began to spin his body.

Death Roll.

A notorious hunting technique of crocodiles.

The technique involved biting the opponent and spinning the body to tear off flesh. However, when D’Ordume used it, the destructive power was extraordinary.

Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!

D’Ordume’s entire body was covered with scales and six pairs of enormous axe blades. The aura coating the ends of these blades extended, forming shapes like guillotines. The black vortex devoured everything. Anything sucked in was shattered and crushed. The massive whirl of slashes swept horizontally across the ground, writhing like a snake thrown onto a hot plate. Even a glancing touch inflicted severe wounds, while a direct hit meant certain death.

“Ahhh! Major D’Ordume is using the Death Roll!”

“Get out of the way! He can’t distinguish between friend and foe in that state!”

“Push the prisoners into it! Hold your defensive positions firmly!”

“If you stay put, you won’t get pulled in!”

D’Ordume’s ultimate move was a threat not only to the prisoners but also to the guards. Even the vicious Level 9 prisoners were wary of the slashing vortex D’Ordume created, avoiding it rather than confronting it.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

The black vortex shaved and smashed all the stalactites and rocks in its path, leveling the ground. Stalactites hit by the aura’s storm crumbled into sand, and large rocks showed deep gouges where chunks were sliced off. The landscape within the prison drastically changed, forcing all the prisoners to retreat to the sides or back.

…However.

Amid the prisoners scattering to both sides, there stood a man alone. He wore a tattered guard uniform, signifying a mid-level captain. The mysterious captain, with his hat brim pulled low, stood still even as D’Ordume’s Death Roll hurtled toward him.

“Hey! Are you crazy!? What are you doing, Captain!? Get out of there!”

“Haha! Are you going to kill one of your own too, D’Ordume?!”

Prisoners and guards alike shouted frantically as they scattered like a receding tide. Yet, the captain remained motionless, calmly watching the approaching slashing storm.

Clang.

Eventually, the uniform fell to the ground.

He removed his rank insignia from his chest.

…Flash!

In a vertical motion from top to bottom, he swung his arm. Just once. A small blade extended from his wrist. It descended like lightning, striking D’Ordume’s body and slamming him into the ground.

Crash!

D’Ordume’s head, smashed into the ground, bounced back up. Thud…

That was the end. With a single strike, D’Ordume lay bloodied on the ground. The chaos in Nouvellebag fell silent for a moment.

Crunch, crunch, crunch.

In the chilling silence, just the sound of the man’s footstep echoed.

Overwhelming.

The aura emanating from him consumed everything on the battlefield. The living beings in Nouvellebag could only hold their breath in shock at the sight of this crimson charisma, shaped like a giant monstrous hound.

Finally, the man stepped forward, planting his boot on D’Ordume’s head.

“…I always pay my damn debts.”

Night hound was back.
